EVE AND THE LAST WALTZ STRAIGHT UP TO THE SKY Rhythm Ace/Border/Icare "A waltz that impress" Itīs been a few years since Eve and the Last Waltz debuted with the album "Love Boat". Musically speaking it hasnīt changed much since then. It is still a kind of music that demands attention from the listener. Itīs music that doesnīt fit in. Itīs Eva Lalanders magic and self-evident voice. And that is just the way it is supposed to be. Eve and the Last Waltz is a band that seem to have full control of everything they do and seem also to know exactly what they want. It will take this band far. Of course not sales- wise but on every other level. Even though the influences are evident (and always have) itīs always been tricky to pin down just where to file this band. If I had to I would put them somewhere under lo-fi pop. They always have strong pop songs in the bottom even though the instrumentation is odd and the arrangements point at many directions. The sound has something old about it and pulls towards vintage mono recordings (in a positive way). That sums this CD up nicely. Peter Johansson, Musiklandet, swedish music site
