Total devotion and an esthetic that is defiant and consistent. Håkan Engström has listened to "Tape Hiss, Hit or Miss And Sometimes Even Bliss" and likes what he is hearing. Wobbly country and a rock-style as if it was rolled straight over a roughed-up nailcarpet, from a Stockholmer that used to play with Burek V. The music is not quite as lo-fi as the coquettish title may suggest – but you shouldn´t let yourself be fooled neither by the title nor the brutal distortion that on some songs pushes the music close to Dinosaur Jr; Mats Grönmarks music is way more personal than that. It´s in his odd phrasing, in his unconstrained relation to the unsteady rhythm, in hans total devotion as a singer; an esthetic that is as defiant as it is consistent. Has Mats Grönmark a soul mate it would probably be Kevin Coyne. Håkan Engström, SYDSVENSKA DAGBLADET
