Oh Lucky Star A Place in the Sun (Rhythm Ace/Border) Instrumental guitar-rock is a so much fenced-in style that it resembles a sect. The boundaries are laid down, the ideals medieval, the audience is tight and as strict as only the righteous tend to get. Oh Lucky Star is a trio from Stockholm that manage to step right into this genre and actually sound as they dictate their own rules. Without being that experimental either. In the pressrelease influences like the jazz-pioneer Charlie Christian and modern african guitar heroes are mentioned. But it doesn´t quite sound that exotic. Actually just like garage-rock.Straight and electric and with a likeable jumpy rhythm and with a range all the way from rowdy thunder to a shivering build of tension. And yes, maybe with a bit of old jazz in the groove. Behind Oh Lucky Star is a trio of musicians from Eve and the Last Waltz, Burek V and Lee Marvelous, but none of those bands have the same sure identity as this little side-project.
